Description:
The Durkit family lives to serve God's kingdom by serving others. We have been called to minister in and through aviation. Our mission is to establish a pipeline of missionary aviators by equipping them with the training and experience they will need to serve in the mission field. We will primarily serve in the local community operating our flight training program while also seeking to utilize our aviation assets to serve the local and regional mission field. Wesley has served in law enforcement for the last 10 years and Torie has been an elementary school teacher for 7 years. In that time both have seen their share of hurt and trauma resulting from the tragedies of domestic violence, predation, exploitation and human trafficking. Wesley has witnessed first hand the result of what happens when victims are exploited, in particular when children are exploited by sexual predators. Torie has a big heart and deep desire to help children succeed and grow. She is especially drawn to the children who are broken and she naturally wants to comfort them and show them the light this world has to offer. Together Torie and Wesley have a vision to develop a ministry that serves the victims of domestic violence and human trafficking by providing transportation and safe passage for them to relocate to a safe place. In using general aviation for transportation we will be able to provide transport with no paper trail to protect every victim, but especially those being rescued from the human trafficking criminal enterprise. The east coast of the United States is a major hub for human trafficking and we want to provide our services as soon as possible. We work through Christ Flight Ministries to develop aviation assets and further spread the love and hope of Jesus Christ. In January 2021 we began leading a new chapter of the Wings of Grace Ministries teen aviation program. The program brings teenagers beginning at the age of 13 together in a discipleship and flight training curriculum. We meet weekly as a group to conduct ground school flight training as well as life lessons drawn from the Bible. The flight training is provided at no cost to the teenagers enrolled in the program and is conducted by volunteer flight instructors. The teens do have to earn their flight hours by performing community service projects throughout the year. We are the first chapter extension of Wings of Grace Ministries which is based in Florida, and our inaugural class was a great success. Alongside the teen aviation program Christ Flight launched a part 61 flight academy which provides full flight instruction to anyone desiring to become a pilot. The revenue generated through the flight academy stays in the ministry and funds the teen aviation program. The Durkits will serve as missionaries to operate and grow the flight academy to serve the local, regional, and foreign mission fields through the pilots we generate.
